The base of Vail is located at 8,200 feet and ascends up to 11,570 feet above sea level at the summit! That makes for world-class snow, but it also means that some visitors may experience flu-like symptoms triggered by high altitude. Prior to your arrival, be sure to hydrate your body by in taking fluids such as water, coconut water or other non-sugary beverages. The climate is quite dry in Vail and getting this head start will help significantly. Please make sure to allow your body time to adjust to the altitude especially if you are traveling from sea level. Drink plenty of water, eat and watch your alcohol intake.
